The cedar grain texture is embossed into the boards providing better continuity of definition making the depth of the grain more visible. The boards are embossed and not cut, allowing better performance against weather and moisture. SmartSide products are manufactured using the borate-based SmartGuard process to resist termites and fungal decay. In addition, a resin saturated paint base overlay is fused to the engineered substrate, resulting in a surface that is easy to paint.

Installation is also quick and easy because no special cutting or fastening tools are required.
